Lillie Effie McCampbell (Johnson), age 69, of Kodak, TN passed away on the morning of July 22, 2023. Her passing was swift, peaceful, and comfortable. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Franklin Johnson and Mary Lucille (Ballard) Johnson, her sisters Dorothy "Dottie" Audette and Lula Bernice Turner, and her brother Danny "Dino" Johnson. She is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Gideon) McCampbell and Kelly (Brandy) McCampbell, her granddaughter Aadrika Chatterji, her brother James (Mary) Johnson, and her sister Shirley (Dennis) Ehlert, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, all of whom she loved as if they were her own children.
Lillie dedicated her life to service of others beginning when she graduated as class president at the St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1976 in Knoxville, TN. She continued to love and serve those around her and often put the comfort of others before her own. Friends and relatives alike called her Ma, Mom, or Momma Lillie and she loved every moment of it! She loved the color purple, cats, hummingbirds and bluebirds. She delighted in bright flowers, still mornings blanketed in snow, and thunderstorms that lit up the sky. She loved life in all of its moods and loved people exactly how they were.
A celebration of her life will be held with friends and family on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 1pm to 3pm in the chapel at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you wear something purple, donate to a local animal shelter or a local park, or simply spend some time sitting outside listening to the birds and appreciating how beautiful this world is and remembering how brightly her light shined on everyone she touched.
