Lewis Maxwell Jarvis, of Dandridge, TN, born December 1, 1920 in Sneedville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mary Kyle Testerman Jarvis and his parents, Roy F. and Lena Moles Jarvis of Sneedville. Max was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge. He was a Ford Motor dealer in Sneedville, TN and Dandridge, TN from the 1930's until 1972. He then became a real estate broker until his retirement in 1980. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the US Navy in the South Pacific, was awarded 3 battle stars and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was past president of the Smoky Mountain Country Club, Newport and was a faithful Christian, devoted father, faithful husband, avid golfer, and friend of many. He is survived by his children, Lochel Ann Gaines and husband, Joe of Brentwood, TN, Doe Jarvis and wife, Maria of Morristown, TN, and Burney Kyle Jarvis and wife, Pamela of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Weslie, Grant and Lyndly Jarvis and Amanda and Andrew Gaines; brothers, Ray (Pete) Jarvis of Sneedville and Roy J. Jarvis of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, James (Buddy) Saulsbury, and George E. and Ted W. Testerman; special friends, Bill and Evelyn Hance of Dandridge and Mae Riley of Morristown. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Graveside burial sevices will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2002 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Rogers, Harry Chambers, Bud Townsend, Clyde Dunn, Bill Lovelace, Jack (Catfish) Sams and Jason Miller. Friends may call at their convenience from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the church and the family will greet friends immediately following the service. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are requested and may be made to First Baptist Church of Dandridge, First Baptist Church of Sneedville, or Union Rescue Mission of Knoxville.
