Lester Maxwell Lowery, age 82, of New Market, TN, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, he was a long time mechanic and steadfast truck driver for over 30 years. An Army veteran, he enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserve on July 3, 1952. Pvt. Lowery went to Spec Tng Regt 8th Infantry Division (trained in auto maintenance) and then assigned in the 261st Signal Company, where he served during the Korean War and was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve on July 5, 1955. Decorations/Commendations: Korean Svc Medal, CIB, Nat Def Svc Medal, UN Svc Medal. Attended Jefferson City Church of God. Husband-Father-Brother and Friend. Mr. Lowery was predeceased by father and mother, Ted Frank and Ruth Kathleen (Hurd) Lowery; brother, Guy Henry Lowery. Mr. Lowery is survived by his wife, Joyce Betty (Wilson) Lowery, New Market, TN; brother, Bill Frank Lowery; sister, Barbara Ann Johnson; daughters, Deborah, Teresa; step-daughters, Tina, Charlotte; son, Jeffrey Lowery; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He will be remembered. Funeral/burial service will be held at two o’clock on Wednesday, January 31st in East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery - John Sevier 2200 E. Governor John Sevier HWY Knoxville, TN 37920.
