Leroy C. Gannon,

Leroy C. Gannon, Jr., age 88 of Jefferson City, TN passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was born in Rutherford County and graduated from Central High School in Murfreesboro, TN and Andrew Jackson Business College. He worked for the Agariculture Adjustment Program in Rutherford County and the State Office in Nashville, TN for five years. He came to Carson Newman College on September 20, 1943, where he worked as bookkeeper and assistant treasurer, retiring on October 1, 1974. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, TN since September, 1943. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe Imogene Ellison Gannon; father, Leroy C. Gannon, Sr.; mother, Annie Helen Aumbro Gannon; sisters, Annie Elizabeth Gannon Haynes, Mary Nelle Gannon Arms. He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Fannie Belle Gannon of Murgreesboro, TN, Kathleen G. Gilley of Murfreesboro, TN, John Boyd and Nanny Gannon of Murgreesboro, TN; John Emerson and Beverly Ellison of Bybee, Harold and Linda Ellison of Bean Station, Delores and Tommy Steele of Mohawk, Dr.'s Gerald and Jerri Ellison of Tulso, Oklahoma, Wayne and Brenda Ellison of Bybee; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2002 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Dampier and Brother Doug Harris officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for 2:00 p.m. interment services.
