Lauren Nicole Matijevich

A unique and special light was brought into the world on January 22, 1977.  Lauren passed away peacefully at age 45 on May 31, 2022, and we praise God that she is now free from all the constraints of this life. Despite multiple handicaps that left her without the ability to speak or walk, she touched the lives of all who met her. Her sweet smile and expressive eyes conveyed true love for those around her. Lauren enjoyed swimming, boating, traveling in her RV, talking, and playing games on her eye gaze computer, and most of all being with the family and friends who loved her so dearly.  We thank God for her life and all the joy that she brought to our family. It was a privilege to be able to care for here. Lauren is survived by her parents, Karen and Eli; her brother Nick and his wife Lauren and their children Max and Natalie; grandmother Clelda Carter; aunts and uncles Cathy and Rodney Beasley, Tom and Barbara Carter, Robert and Sherry Matijevich; special and very close cousins Brad and Tammy Woods and Brianne and Brent Taylor and their son and daughter, Logan and Elyse Taylor, Kacie and Dave Voss and daughter Torianna; Johnna Norton, Lindsay and Patrick Fleming, and Jared Matijevich, and Shannon Clark. She was preceded in death by grandparents Tom Carter, Eli and Evelyn Matijevich; great aunt Mary “Manny” Chrisman; aunt Vicki and uncle Charles Woods. Lauren and her mom and dad had help from some very special caregivers over the years, Cindy Hollingsworth, Leslie Hohl, Pam McCord, Sherry Carr, Nora Sartain, Angelina Sebastian, Julie Williams and Resa Hamilton; and Dr. Lance Patton who provided extraordinary care during her life. She loved them all very much and they loved her back.  She was a member of Jefferson City Christian Church, and her church family embraced and loved her so dearly.  Our silent angel now has her wings. Her whole life has been a testimony to the glory of God and now she will be with him forever. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Jefferson City Christian Church with Reverend Luke Emert and Reverend Bob Emert officiating. After the service, family and friends will be gathering at the home of Eli and Karen Matijevich. A private interment service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to International Rett Syndrome Foundation, 4600 Devitt Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45246,or to the 4th JDRS Inc, PO Box 858, Dandridge, TN 37725
