Laura Jean Purkey Robeson

LAURA JEAN PURKEY ROBESON, born June 5, 1939, passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted family on May 30, 2016 at UT Medical Center. She was a longtime employee of Dollywood working in their special events, and was known by her grandkids as their loving Nannie. Preceded in death by her husband, Gale Robeson; grandparents, Cora and Tyler Purkey, Kittie and Richard Royston; parents, Vada and Everett Purkey; sister, Helen Purkey Nicholson; brother, Larry Richard Purkey; granddaughter, Katherine Musick. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Matt) Musick and Ellen (Sam) Moffat; grandchildren, Ava Musick, Thomas Moffat and Juliana Moffat; brothers, Junior Purkey, Otto (Lynn) Purkey and David (Pam) Purkey; nieces, nephews and many neighbors and friends. Graveside interment service and celebration of her life led by her brother, David Purkey, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Sunderland Cemetery in Morristown, TN.
