Laura Dorothy (Dot) Briggs Sellars

LAURA DOROTHY (DOT) BRIGGS SELLARS, age 89, of Dandridge, TN passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at her home. She was born June 11, 1923, the daughter of the late G. W. and Lula Briggs, and was a long time resident of the Chestnut Grove Community of Jefferson County, TN. She was married to Hal Sellars, a wonderful husband and father, for 66 years. They were blessed with five children, Joyce (Jack) Russell, Brenda Sellars, Martha (George) Bailey, Barbara (Robert) Lowe and Terry (Kathi) Sellars; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Briggs; and numerous friends and neighbors. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed her family and caring for others. Preceded in death by sisters, Cora Hunter, Queen Edmonds, Carrie Fisher and Myrtle Fisher; brothers, Carl Briggs, Hubert Briggs and Roscoe Briggs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Balch Cemetery Fund, c/o Terry Sellars, 3082 Falcon Road, White Pine, TN 37890. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. William Bradley and Rev. Darrell Chambers officiating. Interment to follow at Balch Cemetery. The family will receive friends sunday afternoon from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
