L. C. “SHORTY” NANCE, age 71, of Jefferson City, TN passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 12:26 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Asarco Mines with 35 years of service. He was owner/operator of Nances Ditch Digging and a veteran of the U. S. Army. Preceded in death by parents, Lon and Helen Nance; nephew, Michael Nance. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Judy Nance; daughter, Pamela (Leonard) Burnette of Jefferson City; step-daughters, Dinah (Charles) Wood of Jefferson City, and Denise Copus of Talbott, TN; grandchildren, Charlie Carpenter, James Wilson and Bandy Thomas, Savannah Wood; great-grandchildren, Eya and Emy; brothers, Harold Nance of New Market and Jeff Nance of New Market; nephews, Nolan (Lisa) Nance, Brody Nance, Justin Nance and Andrew Nance, all of New Market, David (Becky) Baker of Deland, FL; nieces, Jessica Nance of New Market and Karen Moss of Deland, FL. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Hankins officiating. Family will receive friends following the service. Family and friends will gather at 2:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Nances Cemetery for a 3:00 p.m. graveside inurnment service.
