KERMIT “MOOSE” “HEZZY” RATLIFF, age 76 of New Market, TN passed away on January 9, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. “Moose” was not an ordinary man, but rather a kind hearted, generous and much loved legend of his time. He was a truck driver his entire life in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, having taught many to drive, and giving much needed jobs to many. If you knew “Moose” you had a story to tell about this extraordinary man. He lived his life as a loving husband, father and grandfather to the family he was blessed with. There were three things that “Moose” loved other than his family and friends: truck driving, airplanes and motorcycles. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Ratliff and Bunia Whitt Ratliff; four siblings; and grandson, Brandon Ratliff. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Melissa Ann Ratliff; children, Kermit Ratliff (Melissa), David Ratliff (Brenda), Patty Foster (Boone), Chris Ratliff (Margaret), Freddie Ratliff, and Casey Whetstone (Stephanie); his loving, supportive and caring sister and her husband, Linda and Bill Duke; brother, Ron Dimaline. He was also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his special little buddy, Mason. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 p.m. on Friday at Westview Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service.
