Katherine Bass Myers

KATHERINE BASS MYERS, age 93, of Jefferson City, TN died peacefully in Knoxville on August 15, 2008. She was born in Shop Springs, TN, the daughter of Magnus Thomas and Elsie Bryan Bass, the sister of William W. Bass, and for more than 65 years, the wife of Albert L. Myers. Her life was lived mostly in Jefferson City, TN, where she raised her three sons and lived her life in service to her community, her church, her college, and her Lord. As a student at Tennessee College for Women, she was a five-sport athlete, and prior to her marriage, she taught high school Latin in the Warren County School District and served briefly as the Registrar at Carson Newman College. Beloved of all who knew her, she served as a model of a Godly woman. She was a lady of strong faith, love, and humor, and she taught us how to grow older with grace and dignity. The family expresses its deep gratitude for the care and support provided to "Mom" by the staff of the Elmcroft Retirement Community in Knoxville in the last two years of her life. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Mary Myers of Durham, NC, Bill and Barbara Myers of Richmond, VA, and Jim and Terri Myers of Knoxville; her grandchildren, Jay, David, Steven, Karen, and Katie Myers; Kathy Burnette and Bryan Myers; and Courtney Hilliard and Eric Myers; her three great-grandchildren, Rohan and Max Myers and Carter Burnette; and numerous other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Saturday, August 16, at the Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City at 2:30 pm on Sunday, August 17, with burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
