Mrs. Juanita Johnson Hodge departed this life on Sunday afternoon, December 25, 2016, following a lengthy illness. She was born in New Market, Tennessee to the late Sam and Nora Johnson on September 19, 1932. Juanita was preceded in death by husband, Carter Hodge, Jr.; twin sister, Ovelia Henry, sisters, Carrie Carter and Gladys Boswell; brothers, Sam W. Johnson and William McKinley Pitts.
Juanita graduated from Nelson Merry High School in Jefferson City. She married Carter Hodge, Jr. and to this union were born seven children. Juanita was a member of Martha Davis Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a member of the Red Circle, BTU, attended Sunday School, The Missionary Society, The Willing Workers, and was also a member of The Senior Choir. Juanita also dedicated many years to serving as a Pink Lady at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
She leaves cherished memories to devoted family members; daughters, Pat Marable, Darlene (Paul) Russell, Kathleen Hodge, and Mary Ruth Hodge all of Jefferson City; sons, Charles Edward (Trina) Hodge of Jefferson City, Johnny (Janice) Hodge of Abilene, Texas, and Carl Hodge of Albany, New York; grandchildren, Tyrone (Margie) Hodge of Alcoa, Johnny C. (Celsey) Hodge of Morristown, and Sparkle Hodge of Albany, New York; great-grandchildren, Trinity Hodge of Alcoa, Jaquann and Ja’King Hodge of Morristown; She also leaves to cherish her memories, sister in-law, Helen Johnson of Jefferson City; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great- great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Farrar Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 200 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Farrar Funeral Home.
