Josephine Ware Wallis

Josephine Ware Wallis, age 91 of Dandridge, TN formerly of New Iberia, Louisiana passed away Friday morning, June 19, 2015 at the Jefferson Co. Nursing Home. She was born December 29, 1923 in Rayne, Louisiana and grew up in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute (Now known as Univ. of LA at Lafayette--ULL) in 1945 and received her M.S. degree from University of Southwestern Louisiana, formerly ULL. She taught Home Economics in New Iberia, Louisiana for over 20 years and was an active member of her church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames. Josephine was a member of Church of the Epiphany, Episcopal Church at 303 West Main St. in New Iberia, LA, 70560-3698 and was an associate member of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 8, Dandridge, TN 37725. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be sent to her churches or to Access’ Life, P.O. Box 99, Altoona, FL, 32702. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Billy Wallis; Son, William Thomas Wallis; parents, James Henry Ware and Amy Bradford Ware; brother, James Henry Ware, Jr. and George Bradford Ware; brother-in-law, John Wood Anthony. Survived by her daughter, Caroline Wallis Goddard and husband Doug; Granddaughter: Catherine Goddard-Dziewulski and husband Robert; Grandsons: Benjamin Wallis Goddard and wife Leigh and Douglas Goddard and wife, Leanne; Great Grandchildren: Henley and Evelyn Goddard; Twin Sister: Marie Ware Anthony of Opelousas; Sister-Moina Ware Lucent (husband Robert) of Escondido, CA; Sisters-in-law, Katherine Ware and Pat Ware; Many nieces and nephews and their families. Graveside funeral services, Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 11:00am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Dandridge, TN with Dr. Steve Brown officiating.
