OBITUARY:
JOSEPH L. (LOUIE) VESSER, III, age 54, of Jefferson City, TN passed away Tuesday morning, July 19, 2005 at Ft. Sanders Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morristown, and was assistant principal of Jefferson County High School for thirteen years. In 2004 he was selected Assistant Principal of the Year for the state of Tennessee. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Jefferson Memorial Hospital and was on the Board of Directors of the Lakeway Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. In that capacity, he was instrumental in starting the Youth Leadership Class as a course study at Jefferson County High School. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Young Life and for many years he was the Camp Director of Coker Creek Camp, Tellico. He was Executive Vice President of TMI Academy in Sweetwater for thirteen years. and was a 1976 graduate of Carson-Newman College. He was the founder and former owner of Made In Tennessee Gifts, Inc. of Jefferson City. Preceded in death by his father, Joseph L. (Buck) Vesser, Jr. and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Vesser, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Bull. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Skaggs Vesser; five children, Joshua L. Vesser of Jefferson City, Mr. and Mrs. Justin L. (Amy) Vesser of Lenoir City, Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Amy) Skaggs of Seymour, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas (Pam) Wright of Morristown, and Mr. and Mrs. Steven (Morgan) Skaggs of Talbott; six grandchildren, Tyler and Shelton Skaggs, Emily and Molly Wright, Isabella and Wil Skaggs; mother, Betty Bull Vesser of Knoxville; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Cheryl) Vesser of Louisville; two nephews, Chaz and Colby; uncle, Gail Milligan of Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Morristown with Pastor James Harmeling and Reverend Danny Georges officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
