Box 1025 Dandridge, TN 37725 Phone (865) 397-2711 Fax (865) 397-9289 OBITUARY: JOSEPH WILLIAM "JOE" MORRISSEY, age 79, of Dandridge, TN passed away peacefully on June 30, 2008, surrounded by his wife and daughters, Margie and Sandra, following a valiant battle with esophageal cancer and numerous medical complications. Joe was a singing bartender for most of his working career in South Florida, entertaining many executives, as well as former Presidents Ford and Reagan. He also entertained troops in Germany during the Korean War and was a proud member of the U.S. Army troop show. He enjoyed music and people and was extremely proud to be a veteran. Joe was born April 8, 1929 in Auburn, NY. He relocated to South Florida in 1951 after discharge from the Army and married and raised four children. He relocated to Dandridge from Boca Raton, FL in 2004 with his wife after retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Morrissey; brothers, Thomas and Robert; and his beloved mother-in-law, Lorraine (Gram) Calkins. Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy, whom he adored; his very special and faithful companion, "BUDDY"; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Jim Branch of Parker, CO, Margie and Jerry Peterman of Round Lake Beach, IL; and Sandra and Glen Clark of Dandridge, TN; son, Scott Morrissey of Elizabethton, TN; grandchildren, Christen and David Chandler of Atlanta, GA, Bethany and Grace Peterman of Round Lake Beach, IL, and Margaret and Nicholas Clark of Dandridge, TN; brother, John Morrissey and sister, Marilyn Mattes of Auburn, NY; sister, Jean Friend of Dandridge, TN; special nephews, Jim and Shon Morrissey of Auburn, NY; special cousin, Margie Zelehowsky of Auburn, NU; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Ursula Calkins of Loxahatchee, FL, Bob and Peggy Calkins of Elizabethton, TN, and Don and Kathy Calkins of Jacksonville, FL; as well as numerous nephews and nieces around the country. Celebration of Joe's life will be held at his home in Dandridge on Wednesday evening. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, July 3, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, conducted by Father Dan Whitman. Interment will follow at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.
