Joseph Walter "Bill" Satterfield

JOSEPH WALTER "BILL" SATTERFIELD, age 83, of Dandridge, TN passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at his home. Bill was well known and active in the Dandridge community, where he was a graduate of Maury High School Class of 1941, a member of the French Broad Church of the Brethren, active member of the V.F.W. Post # 3380, former owner of Satterfield Construction co., retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 24 years where he served as Postmaster of the Dandridge Post Office, a decorated veteran of the U. S. Marines and World War II, and was former president of the Jefferson Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McGaha Satterfield; parents, J. Walter and Gladys Satterfield; brother, Wendell Satterfield. Survived by wife, Darlene Satterfield; children, Gary "Sack" (Linda) Satterfield, Terry Satterfield, Sherri Satterfield and J. J. (Julie) Patterson; grandchildren, Marilyn (Jason) Bolin, Derrick (Shana) Satterfield and Cathy Satterfield; two and soon to be three great-grandchildren, his little angels, Kamry Bolin and Brooklynn Satterfield; sisters, Margaret Davis, Mary Ellen Price, and Alice S. Beasledy; brother, Leroy (Donna) Satterfield; sister-in-law, Janice Satterfield and several special nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to caregivers, Clyde and Ida Price, Susan Greene, Bobbie McMahan, David Satterfield, Nancy and John Williams, Sharon Cameron and Covenant Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Road, Knoxville, TN 37909. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Rev. Ron Spire, Dr. Robert McCray and Rev. Ginger Isom officiating. Interment graveside service with military honors will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at French broad Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
