John H. Owens

JOHN H. OWENS, Sr. age 76, of Dandridge, TN passed away Tuesday evening, April 12, 2017 following a brief illness. He was born December 19, 1940 in Knoxville, TN, the son of the late Henry and Dorothy Owens. John was well known in the Dandridge Community, having owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Restaurant for 23 years and the Owens Restaurant for 5 years along with his wife Glenda. He was a member of the Brazelton Lodge # 190 F&AM and was a Shriner. John was preceded in death by daughter, Melissa Owens, and son, John Owens, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Glenda Owens; children, Timothy ( Lara ) Owens of Dandridge, Sharon Gail Collins Phillips of Jefferson City, and William Eugene Owens of Johnson City; brother, Roy (Wilma) Owens of Dandridge; grandchildren, DeWayne England, Heather Wood, Tiffany Myers, Derik Owens, Carie Beth Tabor, Taylor and Laney Owens, Daniel and Lindsay Owens; and 13 great-grandchildren; very special friends, Loyd and Susie Whisenant. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 14, 2017, 7:00pm at the Swanns Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. John Price and Rev Randy Haun officiating. Interment graveside services will be held Saturday, 10:00am at Swanns Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the church prior to services.
