John Ed McCown

JOHN ED MCCOWN, age 78, of Jefferson City, TN and formerly of Pikeville, KY passed away at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was a retired computer technician from Motorola Corp. Preceded in death by his parents, B. A. and Thelma McCown. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty McCown; sons, Tim McCown of Cartersville, GA and Matt McCown of Morristown, TN; grandchildren, Andrew and Adam McCown; sister, Betty Hamilton of Louisville, KY; two nieces, several cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Charles Hobbs officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will gather at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Johnson Memorial Gardens in Pikeville, KY for a 2:00 p.m. graveside interment service.
