John S. McCloy, Jr. passed away peacefully on January 14, 2021 at his residence at Signature Assisted Living in Jefferson City, TN. He recently celebrated his 88th birthday on December 1st and wedding anniversary on December 29th. He was married to his loving wife, Claire, for 67 years. Originally from Philadelphia, PA where, along with his father, ran a long-time successful TV and Radio Repair Service. He moved to Tennessee in 1977 and owned/operated Cherokee Boat Dock of Mooresburg, TN. In 1995 he retired and moved to Florida and resided in Lakeland until returning to Tennessee in 2017 to spend more time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was a Korean Wartime Veteran. He loved woodworking and spending time flying and restoring vintage aircraft, including his pride and joy, a 1946 Piper Cub. Preceded in death by his parents, John S. McCloy, Sr. and Edith McCloy; sister, Ruth Brooks. He is survived by his wife, (Dorothy) Claire McCloy; children, Jack (John S. McCloy III) (Sally Strader); Cindy Poe (Randy), Donald McCloy (Kathy); grandchildren, Denise Pope (Chad), Jennifer Poe, Brandon McCloy (Amber), and Jon Phillip McCloy (Chelsea); great-grandchildren, Ella Claire, Rosie Jean, and Camille Skye. John requested no special service after his passing and in lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Signature Assisted Living, 129 Mossy Creek Drive, Jefferson City, TN 37760.
