Joelene S. Denton, age 78, of Jefferson City, TN passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Life Care Center of Jefferson City following an extended illness. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was the former owner and operator of Lakeview Market for over 30 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Jim Denton; sons, baby Darrell, Danny and David Denton; daughter, Dee Dee Denton; parents, A.O. and Opal Shands; brothers, Bobby Shands, Jerry and Sue Shands, Jackie Shands, and Daniel ?Butch? Shands. She is survived by daughter, Donna (Don) Stubblefield of Jefferson City, TN; son, Wayne (Jeannie) Hinkle of Jefferson City, TN; daughter-in-law, Florence Denton of Jefferson City, TN; grandchildren, Bruce and Phillip Stubblefield, Tiffany and Alan Denton; brothers, Bill (Patsy) Shands of Jefferson City, TN, Ronnie (Elaine) Shands of Jefferson City, TN; sisters-in-law, Joyce Shands of Morristown, TN, Mary Shands of Jefferson City, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Sonny Strange officiating. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 p.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening prior to the funeral service at the church. The family request in lieu of flowers memorial be given to the Jefferson County Humane Society, 310 Landfill Road Jefferson City, TN 37760.
