Joan Conkin

JOAN CONKIN, of Jefferson City, TN died at 5:00 a.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Joan graduated from Carson Newman University and taught for over 40 years in Jefferson and Hamblen County School Districts. She continued community service by volunteering with both the Jefferson City Public Library and Parrott-Wood Memorial Library for over 25 years, and also Glenmore Mansion. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, John; sister, Siothia; brother, C. A., Jr.; and parents, C. A. and Georgia Longmire. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John, Jr. and Sandra Conkin of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Rachel and John Austin Conkin; brother, William Longmire. A special thanks to her dear friend, Donna Phillips, and the dedicated medical staff at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Family will receive friends Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Private graveside service will be held at a later date.
