Jo Churchwell Patterson, of Dandridge, TN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 4, 2003 following an extended illness. Jo accepted Christ at the age of 13. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leonard G. Churchwell, a Methodist minister for 37 years, serving area churches in East Tennessee and they loved all the churches they served. Jo was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3380 Ladies Auxillary and a 53 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and most recently, Martha Dandridge Chapter #438. She also served on the Dandridge Historical Society. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, hving faithfully served in many offices. She loved helping people, and even after becoming disabled, she continued to be effective. She was an avid user of the telephone, always checking to see where a need existed and delegating or advising someone to help. Jo was a retired employee of Phillips Consumer Electronics in supervision for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Georga Boyer Sensabaugh; brothers, Clarence, Charles, George, and Jack Sensabaugh. She is survived by her husband, J. D. Patterson of Dandridge; daughter and family, Carolyn (Churchwell) and husband David Voiles of White Pine and children, Christopher Voiles of White Pine, Michael, Laura, Brett and Josh Voiles of Greeneville, TN; sons and families, Charales (Bill) and wife Kaye Churchwell and children, Chris and Angela Owens of Rutledge, TN; Larry and wife Doris Churchwell and children, Jeremy, Emily and Jessica Churchwel, of White Pine, TN, Larry Ray II and Stephanie Churchwell of Nashville, TN; and Nick, Lee, Nikole and Dakota Churchwell of Knoxville, TN; step-son and wife, J. J. and Julie Patterson of Dandridge; sisters, Mrs. Don 9Peggy) Pruitt of Johnson City, TN and Mrs. Nancy Howington ot Kingsport, TN; brother, Bob Sensabaugh of Church Hill, TN, several nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors, Bill and Peggy Fain, Hollis and Grace Russell, Dale and Martha Mahurin, Kathleen and Sarah Poe, Charlie and Wanda Fain, Ashley Doughty, Charles and Betty Gantte. It is impossible to list all the friends, because everyone she knew was so special to her. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003 at Mr. Zion Methodist Church with Rev. John Thompson, Rev. Rick Hollifield and Rev. Mike Feely officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Honoroary pall bearers will be be Bill Fain, Dale Mahurin, Dr. Stephen Gantte, Charles Gantte, Jay Stansberry, Phillip Schrader, Don Rose, J. D. Newman. Active pallbearers are Lary Ray Churchwell II, Christopher Voiles, Nick Churchwell, Jeremy Churchwell, J. J. Patterson, Michael Voiles, Daniel Kirk, Joe Hughes, Michael Pearce and Chris Owens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Holston Conference United Methodist Ministers Pension Fund, c/o Administrative Services, P.O. Box 2506, Johnson City, TN 37605.
