A member of Wooten?s Chapel United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U. S. military, having served during the Korean era. He was retired from Asarco with 34 years of service. Preceded in death by his wife, Violet Bales and brother, Carroll Bales. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim, Jr. and Cindy of New Market; son, Bill Bales of New Market; daughter and son-in-law, Susanne and David Levi of Knoxville; grandchildren, Colton Bales, Alex Levi, Chloe Bales and Claudia Levi; sisters, Wanda Bennett and Katherine Fowley; brothers, Carlisle Bales and T. J. Bales; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Farrar Funeral Home Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Russ Weekley officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2005 at the funeral home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
