Preceded in death by father, James Van Dyke and sister, Carolyn Van Dyke. He is survived by wife, Joan; children, Mark of White Pine, TN, Missy of Knoxville, TN, Danny of Jefferson City, TN; mother, Arlene of Dandridge, TN; sisters-in-law, Gail Purkey and Linda Lane, both of White Pine; brother-in-law, Red Woods of Fort Myers, FL; special great niece and nephew, Tyler and Shiann Purkey. He loved them as if they were his. Jerry served the community as a volunteer firefighter and first responder and was fire chief for many years. He loved helping the community and worked for Lenzing Fibers for many years. Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, May 24, 2007 from the Farrar White Pine Chapel with Rev. Brian Osborne officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at White Pine Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Since Jerry loved the fire department, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the White Pine Fire Department in memory of Jerry.
