Jerry Lynn Sexton, age 68, of Newport, TN went home to be with the Lord, June 1, 2014 after a battle with health problems. He was a member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church. He served as a member of the U. S.Army during the Vietnam War. He took great pride in his years of service and continued to love and honor his country through service with the DAV. His strength and willingness to help others has touched the lives of people in his community and his many friends. He was a beloved husband of 43 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend that will be sadly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; Elmer “Two John” and Mary “Honeydoll” Sexton; and brother, Tommy Sexton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Sexton of Newport; son, Gerry and Marina Sexton of Spain; daughters; Barbara Sexton of Ohio, Leslie and Basil Brewer of Jefferson City, Patrice “Boogie” and Timothy Dean of Newport, and Victoria and Jeffery Fox of Newport; grandchildren, John and Vanessa Fox, Tandy Partin, Brandon and Logan Brewer, Jonathan and Tapatha Hull, Travis Risner and Thomas Sexton; five great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members; special friends, Robert White and Ruble “Bucky” Ball. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014, 2:00 pm at Point Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Kitts officiating. Military graveside interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home, White Pine on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
