Jennie Newman Bailey

JENNIE NEWMAN BAILEY, age 92, of White Pine, TN passed away Thursday morning, February 26, 2009 in West Monroe, LA at the home of her daughter following an extended illness. She was the widow of the late James H. Bailey and was employed by the Jefferson County Board of Education for twenty eight years as dietician and cafeteria manager at the White Pine School. She was a member of the Jefferson Chapter #41 Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Pine, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and was very active in her community and church. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph P. and Miranda Blackburn Newman; sister, Pauline Brooks; brother, Cecil Newman. She is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Bailey of West Monroe, LA; sister, Julia Fields; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the First Baptist Church of White Pine with Dr. Sonny Strange officiating. Interment graveside service will 11:00 a.m. Monday at White Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
