Janie Ruth Dyer, age 78, of Jefferson City, passed away at 10:00 p.m. Friday evening, July 5, 2002, at her home following a brief illness. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City since childhood and was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Smith Dyer; mother and father, William A. and Laura Jane Hull; sister, Agnes Hull and brothers, Clarence and Erwin Hull. Mrs. Dyer was a musician, artist, florist, and former owner and operator, along with her husband, of Laryane Nursery and Greenhouse. In her later years she was an avid genealogist and a member of the Hull Family Association.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Charles Turner of Knoxville; son, Larry William Dyer of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Lou Anna Dyer of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Alicia (Mrs. Tom) Garst, Matthew Dyer and Gretchen Samantha Dyer; and great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Peter Garst.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, July 8, 2002, from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Dr. R.R. Turner officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, July 9, 2002 at the funeral home and proceed to Westview Cemetery for a 10:30 a.m. interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening prior to the service at the funeral home.
