JANETTE DOCKERY SPERBER,age 81 of Dandridge, TN passed away at 5:25 a.m. Thursday morning, November 7, 2002 at the Life Care Center in Jefferson City following a brief illness. Mrs. Sperber was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Dandridge. Janette served the church in the capacity of church clerk for more than 43 years, a member of the Women's Missionary Union, a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Chairman of the Church Historical Committee where she co-authored "The History of First Baptist Church of Dandridge", and was a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Sperber held the public office of Register of Deeds in Jefferson County for 14 years and was an employee of First National Bank in Jefferson County for more than 21 years. For many years she was the co-owner of Ruth and Janette's Beauty Shop in Dandridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Burvelle Thornton Dockery. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Albert Sperber of the home; several cousins and special friends, Anna and Floyd Gray of Dandridge and Ben Strand of Dandridge. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2002 from the First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Janette Sperber Memorial Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 951 S. Highway 92, Dandridge, TN 37725.
