James Robert Underwood

JAMES ROBERT UNDERWOOD (Speedy) age 83, of Knoxville, TN passed away on March 16, 2023. He was a member of New Freedom Baptist Church in Blaine, TN and was the prior owner of Underwood Paving Company in Knoxville. Preceded in death by parents, Ben Underwood and Velma Fraze Underwood; wife of 30 years, Bettye Alain Underwood; son, Stevie Underwood; brother, Lester Underwood; sister, Bonnie Kirby.  He is survived by his daughter Sissy Underwood Lewis and husband, Randall of Dothan Alabama; grandchildren, Gatlin and wife Dianna of Dothan Alabama; Randall Lewis Jr. of Dothan Alabama; Bryan and Melissa Sellers of Clinton; Lisa and Scott Green of Oliver Springs; James and Christy Sellars, and Josh and Amanda Sellers, all of Claxton, great-grandchildren, Eli, Kinley, Cydney, Emery, Jacob, Adison, Charlotte and Avery; brother Wayne and wife Edna and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Pastor Lee Wayne Grubb officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside interment service. The family will receive friends Saturday 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
