JAMES ANDERSON PARKES of Dandridge, TN passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 after a full life of 94 years, leaving behind a family that loved and admired Jim for many years. Jim was born in St. Louis, MO. He joined the service and served in WWII and the U.S. Air Force as a radio gunman in the Mighty Eight. Jim was a POW on two separate occasions after his planes were shot down. He returned in 1945 and married his sweetheart, Virginia Belle White who passed away in 2000. He is survived by his children, James (Cindy) Parkes, Kathy (Joel) Williams, Michael (Bonnie) Parkes, Nancy (Greg) Yeakel; grandchildren, Jessica, Eli, Chris, Dusty, Zwinda, Shawna, Shaunacy, Jedidiah, Cade, Bethany, Sean and Justin; 16 great-grandchildren; Jim was blessed with numerous loving supportive friends who cared for him through the years, especially, Bill Jenkins, Susie Jarnigan and the Hardee’s gang . A private family service will be held at a later date.
