NORTHERN, age 73, of Sevierville, TN passed on September 27, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a graduate of Carson Newman College and the University of Montevallo, AL. He taught in the public school system in Jefferson County, AL and Jefferson State Junior College in Birmingham, AL, where he was also Dean of Admissions. He also taught and served in varying capacities at Morristown College from 1968 ?1975. Member of Alpha Phi Omega, National Service Fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi International Fraternity, elected to Who's Who in Education and Who's Who in The South, listed in the Registry of Prominent Americans and International Notables, and was listed as a consultant with The American Association of Junior Colleges Program for Developing Institutions. Later, he was well known in the field of antiques as a dealer and appraiser locally through his association with Farm House Antiques in Jefferson City. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Preceded in death by parents, Helen Deatherage Northern and Henry M. Northern of Jefferson City; and brother, Dr. William Northern of Jefferson City. He is survived by several cousins, including Diana Waldrip and Karen Lane of Knoxville and aunt, Wannafae Vlachos of Franklin, TN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2007 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with The Reverend Charles Livermore officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Westview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Jefferson County Humane Society, 310 Landfill Road, Jefferson City, TN 37760 or Trinity Episcopal Church of Gatlinburg, TN. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Gatlinburg, TN.
