Mr. James B. ?Nim? Sydnor, 63, died at his home in Pensacola, FL., on July 20, 2010.
A native of Jefferson City, TN, Mr. Sydnor was raised in Sandston, VA. He was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy, Fork Union, VA., and Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, TN.
He began his career with IBM in Huntsville, AL., and later moved with his family to Manassas, VA., and to Cary, NC. Upon retiring from IBM, he settled in Pensacola, Fl, where he was a member of Olive Baptist Church and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Sydnor, Sr., and mother, Frances Quarles Sydnor. He is survived by his son, Tim Sydnor and wife, Trina, of Cary, NC; daughter, Susan Sydnor Ford and husband, Tim, of Traverse City, MI.; grandchildren, Chelsea, Brian, Andrew, Grant, and Paul; brother, Charles W. Sydnor, Jr., of Glade Spring, VA.; sister, Nancy Sydnor-Greenberg, of Bethesda, MD.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and companion, Linda S. Liggon, of Pensacola, FL.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, TN, with the Rev. R.J. Seal officiating. Graveside service will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City, TN. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
