James (Jim) Mitchell Smith

REV. JAMES (JIM) MITCHELL SMITH, age 74, of Strawberry Plains, TN passed away on March 12, 2009. He was pastor of Grace Baptist church in Dandridge for 26 years and worked as a carpenter over 50 years. Preceded in death by parents, Henry and Octa Smith; brothers, Fred Smith and Glen Smith; sisters, Alma Smith Cole and Wilma Smith. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Ann ?Chubby? Smith; sons, Steve Smith and Tim Smith; daughters and sons-in-laws, Sue and Eric Foster, Carol Howard, Brenda and Scott Gann, Ann Foster and Tina Smith; son-in-law, Jeff Johnson; seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Al Smith, Rev. Allen (Nita) Smith; sisters, Betty (John) Runion, Katharine (Melvin) Hammer, Jean (Junior) Morgan, Helen Morgan; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Grace Baptist Church with Bro. Albert Morgan and Bro. Eddie Trent officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
