Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865) 475-3892 Fax (865) 475-9916 OBITUARY: JAMES "HAL" JOHNSON, age 76, of Jefferson City, TN passed away peacefully Monday, May 19, 2008 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer. He is beginning life anew with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born October 24, 1931 to Mack and Lena Johnson. He was a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired from Rusty Wallace Pontiac in 2003. In the 1960's he was the insurance man to many and owner of Broadway Gulf in the 1970's. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister and her husband, Faye and Dale Gordon; and two infant sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Cox Johnson; devoted daughter, LaDonna Johnson, both of Jefferson City; and his pets, Tinker, Prissy, Domino and Poochie. Other survivors include special nieces, Pam Gordon of New Market and Cindy Fultz of Jefferson City; "adopted daughter", Patti Nicholson of Dandridge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Golda Herron, Herbert and Mary Cox, Roscoe and Cecillia Cox, Riley and Alma Cox, Gerald and Barbara Cox, all of Jefferson City; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many wonderful friends and neighbors that made his days enjoyable during his illness. Sincere appreciation to the staff of Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare, who helped his family care for him at home and to the Critical Care Unit at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital, especially nurses Donna Rickman and Laura Lucas, who helped him and his family through an extremely difficult week. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with reverend Dwayne Whittington officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to services. Family and friends will gather at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. graveside interment service with military honors by East Tennessee Honor Guard.
