James Hubert Horner

JAMES HUBERT HORNER, age 59, of New Market, TN went to be with Jesus on April 8, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a 1969 graduate of Carter High School and was a member of Marbledale Baptist Church. He was employed at the University of Tennessee. James was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel E. and Josie (Pat) Eubanks Horner of Marbledale. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Sarah Joann Horner; daughter, Christy (Boyd) Naill; son, James (Connie) Horner; step-son, John (Mary) Page; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Cates, Dean (Joe) Hill, Peggie Loveday, Nina (Lamar) Winkle, Wanda (Bud) Weishaupt, Sammie (Joe) Neely; brother, Bobby (Cindy) Horner; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to invite you to a celebration of James? life Friday, April 10, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Marbledale Baptist Church with the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Neal and Reverend Al Smith officiating. The family would like to thank the employees of the University of Tennessee, Marbledale Baptist church and all friends and family that have supported him through his heroic battle with cancer. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. Pallbearers will be Paul Lehman, Bruce Ellis, Jerry Lawson, Harold Hurst, Mark Wagner, Arthur Pratt, Gordon Oglesby and Ben Fortenberry. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Marbledale Baptist Church, 5935 Thorn Grove Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914.
