JAMES PAUL FRANKLIN, age 73, of Dandridge, TN went to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his home. He was a long time member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and served 4 years U. S. Air Force. He worked at Tennessee Handbags/Irvin Industries for 25 years and also for the Jefferson County School System for 19 years in the maintenance department. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and loved working in his garden. Preceded in death by parents, Bruce and Roberta Franklin; and brother, John Franklin. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Poe Franklin; children, Kellie and Mark Strange of Kodak, TN, James and Natosha Franklin of Dandridge, TN, Jama Franklin of Dandridge, TN; grandchildren, Jordan and Kaitlyn Strange of Kodak; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Ruth and Walter Burl Smelcer of Dandridge, TN, Helen E. Franklin of Ft. Myers, FL, and Evelyn and Bill Hance of Dandridge, TN; sisters-in-law, Shelby Franklin of Kodak, Kathleen Poe and Sarah Poe of Dandridge; many nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Kathy Edwards. We would like to thank the nurses at Caris Hospice and all of the friends that came to visit him. He enjoyed the time spent with each and every one of you. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow immediately with Dr. Jason McIntosh officiating. Graveside interment service will at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge.
