He was a long standing member of First Baptist Church of Dandridge. He was a retired Baptist minister, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church for 13 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Margaret Lichlyter Dennis; son, Neal Dennis and son-in-law, Harold Hance; father, Joshua Dennis; mother, Rhoda Ponder Dennis and several brothers and sisters. Survived by children and their spouses, Keith and Doris Dennis, Janice Hance, Brenda and Carl Shaver, Donna and David Kosak, all of Dandridge, Rita and Jim Ball of Louisville, KY, Dale and Candy Dennis of Knoxville, Norma and David Prizer of Newport; daughter-in-law, Linda Dennis of White Pine; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Dr Robert McCray officiating. Graveside interment service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
