James Edward Dean, of Jefferson City, TN, born November 3, 1929, in Mobile, Alabama to William and Florence Dean, passed away on November 18, 2024. James, a US Army veteran of the Korean war, was a member of Boyd Chapel United Methodist Church and an active community member. After an honorable discharge from the Army, James joined TVA in East Tennessee in 1953. He met his wife, Barbara Jean Peck, while staying in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and they were married on December 29, 1955. He retired from TVA as Assistant Superintendent at Cherokee and Douglas Dams in 1989. James was well respected and loved by everyone in and beyond the Jefferson City community. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Peck Dean, his daughter, Ophelia Peck Dean and her spouse Courtney Vitti, and his son Mark Edward Dean and his spouse Denise Jackson Dean. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Bradley officiating. Following the service at the funeral home, James will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
