REV. JAMES D. DAMPIER, age 78, of Jefferson City, TN and formerly of Jacksonville, FL passed away at 9:10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness. He was the Pastor for senior adults at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City for 16 years. He was a graduate of Carson Newman College and Southern Seminary. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, especially fly fish, and greatly enjoyed tying his own flys. He had a great love for music and had too many hobbies to list. Survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathy Dampier; daughter, Vicki (Bill) McMahan of Stafford, VA; sons, Terrell (Janet) Dampier of Johnson City, TN, and James Stephen Dampier of Morristown, TN; grandchildren, Bo, Skye and Shea; great-grandchildren, Rachel and Zachary; brother, Bill (Joyce) Dampier of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Jefferson City with Dr. Gene Wilder, Dr. William Blevins and Hank Niceley officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smoky Mountain Hospice, 506 W. Morris Blvd, Morristown, TN 37813.
