OBITUARY:
JAMES P. COMPTON, SR, age 84, of Morristown, TN passed away at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired UMWA coal miner with 32 years of service. Preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jane Childers; parents, Mack and Emma Compton; three sisters and eleven brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ella Duty Compton; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Nancy Compton of Kentucky, Billy and Patty Compton of Kentucky; James P. and Jennifer Compton, Jr. of Jefferson City, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and James Williams of Jefferson City, Marilyn and Joe Hancock of Talbott , Marsha and Steve Roberts of Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Sherman and Shirley Compton of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Cross officiating. Interment will follow the service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday evening, June 14, 2004 at the funeral home.
