James Richard Camp

JAMES RICHARD CAMP, SR., age 98, of Jefferson City, TN, born August 17, 1919 in Cherokee County, South Carolina, the son of John and Lillie Camp, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in World War II, retired from U. S. Steel, and had been a member of Martha Davis Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He was a great dad and provider for his family. Preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Juliette Camp; son, Eugene Camp; sister, Queen Ester Watkins; brother, Vanderbilt Davis; and daughter-in-law, Essie Camp. He is survived by his son, James Camp, Jr.; daughters, Ola Mae Parton of Jefferson City, TN, Darlene Dean of Boynton Beach, FL, Debbie Camp and Ann Camp of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Stephanie Hunter (Ivan), Anita Gage (David) of Knoxville, TN, Belinda Camp, James Camp III of Jefferson City, Steven Bernard Camp of Sevierville, TN; David Allen Camp of Jefferson City; very special grandchild Catlin Danielle Camp, who helped care for her Pappaw, of Jefferson City; nine great-grandchildren, Kanisha, Katya, Briant, Brianna, Alexa, Braylen, Tristan, Ashton and Harmony; three great-great-grandchildren, Austyn, Jordan and Gabriel; special friends, Vicky Love and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Nathaniel Wilson, Rev. Alex Phipps and Rev. Bernice Osborne officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Westview Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
