JAMES RICHARD CAMP, SR., age 98, of Jefferson City, TN, born August 17, 1919 in Cherokee County, South Carolina, the son of John and Lillie Camp, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in World War II, retired from U. S. Steel, and had been a member of Martha Davis Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He was a great dad and provider for his family.
Preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Juliette Camp; son, Eugene Camp; sister, Queen Ester Watkins; brother, Vanderbilt Davis; and daughter-in-law, Essie Camp. He is survived by his son, James Camp, Jr.; daughters, Ola Mae Parton of Jefferson City, TN, Darlene Dean of Boynton Beach, FL, Debbie Camp and Ann Camp of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Stephanie Hunter (Ivan), Anita Gage (David) of Knoxville, TN, Belinda Camp, James Camp III of Jefferson City, Steven Bernard Camp of Sevierville, TN; David Allen Camp of Jefferson City; very special grandchild Catlin Danielle Camp, who helped care for her Pappaw, of Jefferson City; nine great-grandchildren, Kanisha, Katya, Briant, Brianna, Alexa, Braylen, Tristan, Ashton and Harmony; three great-great-grandchildren, Austyn, Jordan and Gabriel; special friends, Vicky Love and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Nathaniel Wilson, Rev. Alex Phipps and Rev. Bernice Osborne officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Westview Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
