James C. Brinkley, age 82, of Jefferson City, Tennessee, passed away at his home at 1:57 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2003. He was a long time member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army; a member of American Legion Post #113 in Jefferson City; and a member of Mossy Creek Lodge #353 F & AM. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Earnest and Icel Brinkley; brothers, Kenneth, Earl and Ray; sister, Ruby Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Josephine; son, James (Jim) and wife, Sandra, of New Market; daughter, Judy Coomer and husband, John, of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, Denise Brinkley, Jason Taylor and wife, Christa, of Nashville, and Nathan Taylor of the US Navy, Hawaii; great grandchildren, Kegan and Colton Rinard, Sydney and Ella greene; niece, Pat Brinkley; sisters in law, Edna Killian and Loena McGuire; brother in law, Charles Rines and wife, Dot; a devoted cousin, Jessie Vaught; and a very special friend, Nolan Wice. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Firday, May 9, 2003 form the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R. J. Seal officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. interment service. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lebanon Baptist Church, 7925 Greenbriar Road, Talbott, TN 37877.
