Jackie Meritta Nix Roberts, passed away on January 20, 2017 at The Heritage Center after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Madison County, North Carolina on June 25, 1931 to the late Grover Jack Nix and Nettie Parris Nix, to whom she was the last surviving child. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Vance Roberts, and siblings Robert J Nix, Warren McDonald Nix, Wilma A Nix, Gaynell Roberson Nix, Caroline Frances Gentry and Betty Zane Davis. She attended Hot Springs High School where she played basketball and became known as "Jack Rabbit."
She is survived by her children, Bobby (Betty) Roberts, Vance Allen Roberts, Wanda Roberts Watkins and Larry (Trish) Roberts; grandchildren, Johnny (Jamie) Watkins, Heather Roberts Jenks, Tracy (Dewayne Harper) Watkins, Hannah Roberts, Larry Wayne (Ashley) Roberts and Savannah (Adam) Cogdill; and 13 great grandchildren.
Jackie was saved earlier in life and was baptized in Virginia in 1963 with her children. She attended Holt’s Baptist Church in Morristown.
Jackie truly had a servant’s heart, always willing to selflessly serve the needs others, never expecting anything in return. She loved being "Nannie" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought her much joy. The family wishes to extended heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Heritage Center for their compassion and care of Jackie during her time there. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 23 at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. Funeral Services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Ken Cole officiating. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24 for procession and burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 11:00am.
