TALLEY, age 84, of Jefferson City, TN passed away at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at St. Mary?s Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church of Newport and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a retired motor vehicle officer with the State of Tennessee having 26 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Foster and Meadie Talley. Survived by sister, Velma Talley Reuter of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Buford and Jennie Talley of Newport; nephews, James (Buzz) Long of Talbott, Tommy Long and wife, Judy of New Market; great nephews, Mike Long and wife, Denene of Jefferson City, David Long and wife, Ashley of Morristown; great niece, Debbie Stepp and husband, Mark of New Market; great-great nephews, Derek and Zach Long of Jefferson City, Taylor and Bradyn Long of Morristown, Ryan and Drew Norton of New Market, Tyler and Tanner Stepp of New Market; great-great-great nephew, Kaden Norton of New Market. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Dr. Craig Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, 234 Lincoln Avenue, Newport, TN 37821.
