John L. “J.L. Ollis, age 82, of White Pine passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at UT Medical Center following a lingering illness. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Ollis, brother, Paul Ollis, and parents, Alvin and Mayme Ollis. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia Goan Ollis of White Pine, daughter, Theresa Potts and husband Michael Potts, and the “lights of his life” grandchildren, Trey and Jenna Potts of Morristown, sister, Dorothy Lowe of Ferndale, Michigan, sister Pauline Jacobs of Morristown and sister-in-law, Mary Ollis of White Pine. “J.L” was a lifelong member of Leadvale Baptist Church, where he recently received recognition as a honorary deacon for his many years of service. He was a member of Leadvale Masonic Lodge #390, a Korean War veteran and a member of American Legion Post # 201. He initiated and supervised “Builders for Christ Ministry” supporting renovation of Daily Bread Community Kitchen, Morristown and various local and non-local disaster relief projects. He was owner of Ollis Welding and Fabrications. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, 7:00pm at Leadvale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Harkleroad and Rev. Charles Robison officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 2-4:00pm and 5-7:00pm prior to the funeral service. Military Graveside Interment will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016, 10:00am in White Pine Cemetery, with VFW Post #5266 giving the Honors. The family has requested that In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donations be made to the Building Fund of Leadvale Baptist Church, 845 Leadvale Church Road, White Pine, TN 37890 or the Daily Bread Community Kitchen, 118 S. Cumberland St., Morristown, TN 37814.
