J. L. Cate

J. L. CATE, age 76, of Dandridge, TN passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 following a brief illness. He was born and raised in the Dumplin community of Jefferson County, the son of the late Arthur and Laura Caroline (Gann) Cate. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, D.F., Roy, Harold and Cecil; sister, Trula. He worked for many years at American Enka and the Jefferson County Schools maintenance department. J. L was an avid sports fan and will be fondly remembered as being a very talented softball player. He and his Cate brothers and other family members were the core of many talented Dumplin Softball Teams playing all over Jefferson County and surrounding areas who were usually on the winning side. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 52 years, Mary Cate; his twins, son, Jay Cate and wife, Pam; daughter, Lisa Gibson and husband, David; grandchildren, Tarren Cate, Josh Cate, Emily Boling, Tara Cate, Tristen Fann, Ashley Cogburn; great-grandchildren, Gustavo and Liam Balul; sisters, Lucille and Joyce; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017, 12:00 (Noon) at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge with Bro. Charlie Blake leading the service. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:00 prior to services at FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE
