J C Walker, age 94, went to meet his Savior, Jesus, face to face on December 31, 2019. He was born July 29, 1925 in Mohawk, Tennessee to Charles J. Walker and Lula Lucinda Evans, and was the sibling of Mabel Jenkins, Zelma Owens, Earl Walker, Bill Walker, Frank Walker, Fred Walker, Jean Hayes, Charles Walker, Dee Walker, Betty Griffin and Flo Eichelberger. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty who he adored and cherished; daughter, Ginger and her husband Mike Johnson, and son, Steve and his wife Denise; four grandchildren, Jennifer Testerman and her husband Philip, Adam Johnson and his wife Kelly, Andrew Walker and his wife Kara, and Sam Walker and his wife Allison; four great-grandchildren, Bella Testerman, Brooklyn Walker, Henry Walker, and Hadley Johnson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors. He graduated from Norris High School, and served as Yeoman Second Class in the U.S. Navy on the USS Pondera in the Pacific during World War II from 1944-46. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1950. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dandridge, Tennessee. He had a successful business career before retiring from DeSoto as Vice President of Manufacturing. He enjoyed spending time with family and reading his Bible. He liked family scrabble and card games, golfing, taking family members on golf cart rides, following the Vols, beach trips, exercising, and his crossword puzzles. Education was very important to him and he was thankful to attend all of his grandchildren’s graduations. He was a man of high integrity and organization. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7th at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Dandridge, Tennessee with a time of fellowship afterwards. Burial will be Wednesday January 8th at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Dandridge, Tennessee or the charity of their choice.
