IMOGENE POE RUSSELL, age 84, of Dandridge, TN passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Jefferson County Nursing Home following an extended illness. A native of Dandridge and Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late Buford and Florence Miller Poe. Preceded in death by her husband, James H. "Jim" Russell and brother, J. P. Poe. Imogene was a fixture and long-time employee of Tinsley-Bible Drug Company, where she ran the drug store fountain for many years. She will be long remembered for her friendly greeting and conversation along with her serving many delicious fountain orders and thousands cups of coffee to the customers and loafers of the bustling downtown Dandridge business community. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Russell French of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Lisa and Johnny Jennings of Charlotte, NC, Lance Noonkesser of White Pine; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jayden and Jarred Jennings; sisters, Kathleen Poe, Sarah Ruth Poe, Mildred Kyte and Betty (Paul) Franklin, all of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews and a special thank you to the staff and employees of Chandler House and Jefferson County Nursing Home for their love and care over the past several years. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Rev. Rick Hollifield and Rev. John Thompson officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of Kathleed and Sara Poe.
