Hugh "Payne" Rainwater

Hugh "Payne" Rainwater, age 100, of Knoxville, TN passed away on February 9, 2016. He was born on November 1, 1915, the son of the late Jesse and Bertie (Blazer) Rainwater in the Sandy Ridge Community of Dandridge where he grew up. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Payne retired from the JFG Coffee Company (Peanut Butter Division) of Knoxville after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glispie (Hill) Rainwater; brothers, Ponder (Naomi) Rainwater, Wayne (Thelma)Rainwater, and Jessie Rainwater. He is survived by nephew, Mickey (Joy) Rainwater; great niece, Elizabeth Rainwater; and sister-in-law, Thelma Rainwater; cousin, James (Gerri) Blazer; co-worker and friend, Donald Jarnigan; and neighbor, Nancy Atherton. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Shannondale, Maryville for all their kindness and support. The family will receive friends 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge. Interment graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Hills Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Dandridge, TN.
