Hooper L. "Dick" Gooch

HOOPER L. "DICK" GOOCH, age 85, of White Pine, TN passed away Friday, June 2, 2006. He was a former mayor of White Pine and a member of the First Baptist Church for 66 years. He was a retired rural mail carrier and a decorated U.S. Army World War II veteral. Dedicated to public service, he was active in many civic and community affairs, including youth baseball, the American Legion, Lions Club and the Jefferson Democratic Party. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ila Morgan Gooch and parents, Hooper and Myrtle Gooch. Survived by son, Warren and Judy Gooch of Oak Ridge; grandsons, Ryan and Matt Gooch of Nashville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Judy Morgan of Jefferson City, Jean rhyne of Knoxville and Billy Williams of Greeneville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a legion of devoted friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2006 at First Baptist Church of White Pine with the Rev. Earl Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the White Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine.
