Rev. Hollis Gerald Hodge

Reverend Hollis Gerald Hodge went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 24, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was born March 1, 1940 in Strawberry Plains, TN. He was united in marriage to his devoted wife, Mariealana, on September 9, 1962. Rev. Hodge was a loyal and faithful member of Goode’s Temple A.M.E. Zion Church. He served as Pastor of Mt. Zion of Cullowhee, NC, New Zion of Newport, TN, and Young’s Memorial in New Market, TN for almost 30 years. He also served as Chairman of Finance Committee for Asheville District and Conference Studies for Blue Ridge Conference. Rev. Hodge graduated from Nelson Mary High School, Jefferson City, TN and Draughons Junior College in Knoxville, TN. He was employed at Oak Ridge National Lab as a lab technician and supervisor, retiring after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the United States Army 489th Civil Affairs Battalion, for which he served in Desert Storm, and then retired from the military after 30 years. Rev. Hodge is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyine Hodge Lea (step-father, Clifford Lea) and in-laws, James W. Moulden and Connie Mae Moulden. He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, wife, Mariealana Hodge; son, James H. Hodge (Cathy); granddaughter, Sydnie J. Hodge; sister, Gloria Jean Shell; sister-in-law, Ernestine R. Miller (Walter); and several devoted cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Rev. Hodge will be available for viewing on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home (411 West Broadway Blvd, Jefferson City, TN 37760). A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Goode’s Temple A.M.E. Zion Church (476 Old Dandridge Pike, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871) on September 30, 2021. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. with service starting at noon. He will be laid to rest at Eastview Memorial Gardens (1320 Andrew Johnson Hwy, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871.
